1930s Chicago Illegal Speakeasy Gambling Casino Equipment

This isn't your average Antique Gambling Equipment.

All the equipment is documented and manufactured by TAYLOR & CO. Chicago, IL

Let me tell you about TAYLOR & CO. it was a Chicago Mob ran business, Owned and Operated by Joey Aiuppa aka "The Dove" (google him he was featured in the movie "Casino") that manufactured Professional High end Gambling Equipment. Running the Casino's wasn't enough, why not manufacture the equipment as well.

♦️Very Rare ~ Deluxe Black Walnut Poker Table, in my research I was not able to find any examples of this Deluxe model table, even the Gaming Museum in Las Vegas told me they have never seen one. With help from the website Perservinggaminghistory.com they provided photos from an old Taylor & Co Catalog featuring all this equipment. See photo's.

HISTORY - In purchasing this equipment I was able to speak directly with the family selling the Estate. They told me the story walking me through the buildings history just as patrons did through a fake Store Front into the inner walkways leading to a large Steel Door with a "Peep Hole". This was something right out of a movie set. A large building that ran a full city block. Store fronts all along the front, apartments above, Large Speakeasy in the huge basement, remember this building is a full city block. Had separate rooms with offices and wall safe. They blocked off all access to the basement from the Store Fronts above. Literally chopped the staircases right off. Had a secret escape tunnel to a Funeral Home that only buried Gypsy's. This was another Fake Business Front in their illegal operation. This building sat on the corner of Lincoln Ave and Montana St, Chicago IL. Building was torn down in 2018 for modern apartment building.

All of this history intrigued my curiosity for more information. I contacted the Chicago Historical Society to find out the name of the Speakeasy. I was told they had no documentation of a Speakeasy at this location. Because, only Speakeasy's that were busted by Police were documented. And an operation of this size was obviously paying off the right people and never busted.

Went to the Internet searching for info about Taylor & Co., and was able to identify the equipment. Was told by a Poker Chip Collector to research the poker chips. That they were custom made and that Taylor & Co. kept incredible records. We were provided a date and address that the chips were shipped to. It was a random apartment in Chicago. Showing the steps taken to protect the Speakeasy's location.

It has been a fun journey, not only having the opportunity to find and purchase this amazing piece of Chicago Gaming History. But researching, and restoring these beautiful tables. I never thought I would be able to walk into a building that wasn't a museum and dig through a basement with such history. I'm still amazed. Like an episode of "American Pickers".

This is a game that fell out of players eye, because it heavily favored the house.
The outfit consists of an enamel cloth layout using real card faces and outlined and all painted by hand. This is mounted on a panel board 26' x 45" with hardwood molding frame and covered with bevel edge plate glass. Two decks of cards are used, placed face down in a chromium dealing box, included. Very heavy board. Great display piece.
Original condition some moisture under glass.

Money Rack and Currency box made of Black Walnut. Rack is made with spaces for assortment of coins and Checks (chips) has two currency boxes.
Original found condition has signs of use consistent with age. Has a name scratched in top. Great display piece.
