Amazing VINTAGE 1960's Formal Couture DONALD BROOKS Gown
This is for the serious Vintage Couture Collector. Museum Quality.

Donald Brooks was known for his costume design in the 1960's. He was nominated for an Oscar three times between 1963 - 1970. His own clothing lines were heavily influenced by his work in the theater, and were often very dramatic. You can see that this dress was definitely influenced by his past work in the entertainment industry.

This dress was acquired from a woman who had the most amazing closet filled with couture clothing. This Estate both the husband and wife were doctors in the Chicagoland area. This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever sold, it is truly stunning and I have never seen anything like it.

Black silk organza with psychedelic paisley and flower embroidery down the mid line.
Border print along the neck, hem, cuffs and along the front center panel.
There is a fully embroidered belt.
Buttons down the back to waist, fabric covered buttons with matching loops.
At the waist is a zipper on skirt portion for easy entry. With snaps to hide zipper.
Has a nude colored lining in the bodice, but the shoulders, back, and upper chest are sheer.
The sleeves are sheer.
Skirt is sheer with lining. I think a great update to dress would be shortening the lining in the skirt showing your legs under the sheer skirt.
This dress has some weight to it with the embroidered panel down the front.
